Thanks Steph!

Your comment is wonderful in its own right/write -- you should reclaim it and make it a blog entry on your site. Lovely.

My terrier, Piglet, is terrified of thunderstorms, always has been, and there's no consoling him. He, unlike your Lucy, cannot differentiate between a storm on a cd, and a storm for real. I have a Soundscapes cd of a thunderstorm with classical music that I've had to shelf, lol.

Poor Piggy.

Tiny spots of blue are starting to show in an otherwise dark sky. It's two in the afternoon here in Belleville, ON, and we've had thunderstorms all day. I can still hear thunder but it's not as frequent or insistent as earlier. I love storms, but our dog's just developed a raging fear of them, out of nowhere. On these days, rather than have the windows open and enjoy the cacophony, we have to shut up everything tight, to minimize her distress. Poor thing. Today we lost power for a while, so my hubby and I lay on the bed and I read from The Golden Compass (we're doing the trilogy).

this is what I love about storms. I don't have memories like yours of them, but I do love how they induce cozying up and doing something special. Sometimes, when I've having a hard time concentrating on something I have to work on and it's nice out, I put on my CDs of thunderstorms (the dog knows the difference!) and hunker down. I find the sound calming and it allows me to focus.

But it also makes me drowsy!

Wonderful post, Em. You wrote it well.

Awwww, thank you, Dube.

: )

I try hard. I do have to say, with writing, that finally my inner, unrelenting perfectionist has a useful, positive purpose. Baby Face would be proud (wink).

Me too, I love the rainy days. Here in AZ, they also serve to cool things off quite a bit. I am so over summer at this point, when it comes to the heat and these two or three shower days. I'm turning into a prune, and going through shampoo like crazy!

Only five more months 'till Christmas! : )

Wow. What an eloquent post. Nice part at the end about the agents! I love cloudy, grayish days for some reason. It just feels so peaceful to me.
