Angel Wings For Ellie Potvin.
June 23, 2010

Perhaps they are not the stars
but rather openings in Heaven
where the love of our lost ones
shines down to let us know
they are with us.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

Ellie received her wings at 11:35 this morning, in her mother’s arms.

Our prayers and love go out to Amy, Tim, and twin sister Grace Potvin.

If I’m thankful for a few things, it’s that Ellie was blessed with a loving family and a mother like Amy. Let’s keep the family in our prayers as they navigate a world without their beloved Ellie.

People the world over will be wearing pink this Saturday, the day of Ellie’s funeral, to honor this brave little girl. Pink balloons will also be released at 1 pm EST.

If you’d like to join in, just put on your best pink and let your balloons fly up to Ellie.

More money, research, and modern treatment protocols are needed to treat and eradicate childhood cancer. No child should have to experience the ravages of this merciless foe. Sadly, Ellie is just one of the many courageous children gone too soon.

Today, Heaven burned a bit brighter, and the world a bit dimmer.

Run and play, Ellie, in your new-found wholeness. Thank you for all you’ve taught us about kindness, faith, family and life. You’ll forever live on in our hearts.

Condolences can be left in Ellie’s Guest Book: http://bit.ly/co3zkf

If ever there is tomorrow when we’re not together. There is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we’re apart… I’ll always be with you.

Ellie’s Kindle Is On Its Way!
April 2, 2010

Ellie (L) and twin Grace (R) around the time of Ellie's stage 4 rhabdomyosarcoma diagnosis.

I’m sending my gratitude to all the donors who made this gift of a Kindle, and stories during chemotherapy, possible for Ellie.

Ellie’s Kindle (along with a gift card good for 4 Kindle books, plus a physical book for both Ellie and Grace, pictured below) is scheduled to arrive Monday, April 5th. The greeting card I’m sending (signed with the donors’ names) follows in regular mail.

The Tiptoe Guide to Tracking Fairies by Ammi-Joan Paquette.

It’s amazing what we can do when we band together to brighten a child’s life!

Twins, sisters, best friends!
